When we started this project, we wrote music to a single magic card. What we ended up doing was creating a story line based on multiple cards. The feedback for those that play was phenonminal! We have decided that we will continue to create these volumes along with our regular music.
Our first EP is called Nightweaver: Magic Songs Vol 1. The "Nightweaver" came during writing and recording as we were looking for what to call this project. In the end, we needed something that fit all of our music and that is how we became Freaky Things. The Nightweaver title fit just perfectly with this EP. The songs also feature Victor Moran III on Bass. LISTEN HERE
Track Listing
1 - Hurl Through Hell
2 - Eater of the Dead
3 - Approach of the Second Sun
4 - Insidious Dreams
5 - Bonfire of the Damned
A year after the release of Nightweaver: Magic Songs Vol 1, Freaky Things started working on Magic Songs Vol 2. Once again we picked 5 cards and wrote 5 songs about them. This time we went a little more experimental to drive the EP. The songs also feature Victor Moran III on Bass.
EP Release Date: Fall 2024
Single "Seer of the Last Tomorrow" Release to Radio: September 2024
We open with the heavy hitter Keeper of Keys. We did not stick to a formula (which is a theme). Next up is the first single, Seer of the Last Tomorrow. The "no formula" is prevalent here with no part the same except the beginning and very end. Coming in the middle is the very experimental Decision Paralysis. This is Chuckie's debut lead vocals on the verses, as Joe channels Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God. Witching Well begs the question "Is this what you wish?". "You only get one". And the grand finale of the EP (literally) is Nightveil Predator. A creepy, haunting tale that does not end well. They might be coming for you now. Predators attack!

Let the MAGIC begin.........
Chuckie Arlund and his son are in a group that plays MtG on a weekly basis. They have a love for the game and all the people they play with. Chuckie started writing a song based off of Hurl Through Hell. Once he sent that to Joe, the idea was born. Joe even went to Nashville to attend the group to learn more about how the game works. One of the players, Victor Moran III actually played bass on Magic Songs Vol 1 and Vol 2!
There are various Facebook groups related to Magic The Gathering. But our go to when we are researching cards is Scryfall, a powerful Magic: The Gathering card search engine.
Currently we are working on Volume 2 for Oct 2024 release! With all of our other music, we will be releasing Magic Song Volumes once a year. Due to the heavier content and the experimentation, it is great for writing in the dead of winter. Sets the mood and just feels right. :)
There are, and we are trying to find them all! Checkout this cool Spotify playlist we created and keep adding on to it. Magic The Gathering: r/MusicMTG You can also checkout our reddit group related to all MtG artist. r/MusicMTG
